More Australians, Singaporeans and Malaysians will holiday in Indonesia in the coming years attracted by Indonesia’s many new and exciting destinations, beautiful scenery and reasonable prices, concluded a survey made by Visa and the Pacific Asia travel Association (PATA) in its latest Asia Pacific Travel Intentions Survey 2010. Tourists from these countries on average intend to spend more than US$1,500 for their vacation. 59% of the 6,174 respondents in the Asia Pacific region who have visited Indonesia in the past 2 years mentioned that Indonesia’s main attractions are its good and tasty food, relatively cheap shopping and value for money for travel expenses, said Ellyana Fuad, Country Manager Visa Indonesia to Bisnis Indonesia.
The survey made by Nielsen in May 2010 found that Indonesia is considered unique in the country’s mix of cultural heritage , possessing some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
From this survey, 29% were Malaysians who said they would visit Indonesia in the coming years, 18% Australians, 15% Singaporeans, 9% Chinese, 8% Japanese, 8% Koreans and 13% from "other countries".
